Hip Hooray Hippo

This is the first project I’ve done on my new Cricut Expression machine. It cut the bazzil really well and so far I am very pleased with it.

* Cut background paper or cardstock to fit the size card you are making
* Cut the background paper a little smaller- i cut it roughly 0.5 cm smaller all around.
* Using Create a Critter cartridge cut the hippo out of dark blue card
with Layer 1 feature on at 3″
* cut the next layer out of lighter blue card using the Layer 2 feature on
* cut the hippo’s muzzle out of a lighter blue ( I used a patterned paper) and Layer 3 feature on.
* Glue the layers together and mark in the eyes and mouth using a black pen or marker.
* I also inked around the outside edge and drew around the muzzle and the cheeks and flower to define them more fully
* Attach the hippo to the card using pop dots or 3D tape.
* Cut the hip hip hooray out of shiny black paper using the hippo cut and Phrase feature on at 1 1/4″.Use the blue flower that was left after cutting out the  hippo and stick it over the background flower on the phrase then add a rhinestone centre.
* I also cut another flower from the backgound paper and using a pop dot attached it over the same flower on the background paper to give it depth. Then I added a yellow rhinestone to the centre and also added a few more at appropriate places on the background paper.
